The Anatomy of a Business Card

A one sided Bleed

A two sided Bleed
A Hairline Registration,
the two lines touch
Close Registration
less then 1/16" space
Most Business Cards are set with a 1/4" margin.

To highlight the most important line(s) use color or underline or italics them.
Light ink colors are not suitable for dark card stocks, the color of the paper
shines through the ink and makes the ink look darker.
Do not use fine line fonts with rough textured paper stock. The lines brake up.

Avoid costly items such as Bleeds (ink that goes over the Edge)
Trap Registration like a black outline around letters.

Stay away 1/16" from other colors, that is called Close Registration

Avoid other colors than our "Standard Colors." None-Standard or PMS colors have to be specially mixed and require an extra machine washup and that is costly.

Do not use Script Type in upper case letters YOU CAN NOT READ IT

Select one type style for the mainline and one type style for the body copy, otherwise it may look cluttered.

Your choice of typefaces is very important to make a statement on your Business cards as well as on your stationery.

Keep the front of your card simple use the backside of your Business Card for more detail of your company.

A Business Card is not a Brochure.

Use the color of the paper stock to make the card stand out.
